Skiing on Lake Martin, Alabama
Lake Martin is one of the largest man-made lakes in the United States. The construction in 1916 of Martin Dam across the Tallapoosa River created a lake with over 43,000 surface acres and more than 750 miles of shoreline. Since that time, generations of families have discovered the lake and made it home. Today there are a mix of full time and part time residents in cabins, condominiums and elegant residences. Development of the lake is measured and currently there remains more than 300 miles of undeveloped shoreline.
Lake Martin offers everything imaginable for your recreation, including fishing, boating, sailing, and skiing. We also boast some of the best golf in the South with easy access to numerous stops along the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. The lake is also a mature ecosystem and home to a variety of fish, turtles, birds and a variety of plant life.
Whether considering a short vacation on the lake, a safe community for you & your family, or a retirement area, Lake Martin, Alabama offers the best of what you're looking for.
